SQA Launches Exciting Competitions 18 May 2011

Contemporary China LogoOn Friday 22 October the Cabinet Secretary for Education and Lifelong Learning at the Scottish Government, Mike Russell MSP, announced two competitions for Universities and students in China, allowing SQA to acknowledge and recognise their achievements, innovation, commitment and creativity.

The Contemporary China competition allows the 30 Chinese universities to
identify and nominate up to three students undertaking a HND qualification
who are progressing their learning and career aspirations through their
studies.

The other competition, Inspiring Scotland, is aimed at students undertaking
HND qualifications. We want them to take an aspect of Scotland that inspires them - an invention, a person, a place, anything Scottish and produce a piece of creative work inspired by their choice. This could be a poem, short story, research project, music or artwork.

The closing date for both competitions is 30 June 2011. Prizes will be awarded to the top three entries in each competition.
Final judging will take place in July at an event in Beijing. Top entries will be presented to judges and final judging will take place with a prize giving ceremony.

Prizes

1st Laptop
2nd Ipad
3rd Ipod

A special prize for outstanding winners will also awarded and the winners will be invited to Scotland for their achievement to be recognised at the annual SQA Star Awards. (This is subject to the necessary permissions, visa approval, parental approval or any other issues that may prevent the winner from attending).
